    LOoks like the AILA link does not provide email addresses for every listing. I have sent emails to 4 media outlets in my area in Colorado.
    yes it will not give you email addresses for everyone. but some key people will be listed. plus you can go to the website of that org and get details from there. without this tool it is v tough to find media contacts.

    My company lawyer addressed this part. The way it works is that they will work on your file only when your PD is current. So even if you apply now, they most likely wont work on it after July as your PD wont be current. Then when next time (say in Jan 2008) when your PD becomes current, they will pick up all the files for that month and start working on it. It might be that they will work on your file on Jan1st or Jan 31st. You can send your wife AOS the moment your PD becomes current. So you want to make sure that it reaches there before they approve your AOS. In case you are extremely unlucky, then they would start working on your file on 1st day of the month and finish it before end of that day, making it impossible for your wife's application to go through. Thats rare though. So if you can make sure that her app reaches on 1st day of the month in which PD is current, then they should most likely add her to your AOS and work on those together and make your life go forward....its a chance which you will be taking...But again life is a chance


    If you are single and are in a position not to get married b4 August 17th please think b4 applying for 485. It is of no use to you unless you want to switch jobs on EAD which is a HUGE RISK!!My guess is you are going to get married at some point of time(Barring guys who are already in their midlife crisis b4 marriage) and would apply for your wife's Adjustment of Status. Please apply 485 togather when the PD bcomes current again. Bear in mind that even if you apply now b4 marriage you have to maintain your H1-B status. It will only make it worse when one had already applied for I-485 coz you could only get 1 year extensions as opposed to 3 years when you have an approved I-140 and have not filed for 485. Don't get overzealous and apply now and regret later!!

    Can you please read Raj3078's response earlier in the thread and then your suggestion? As I understood them they are mutually exclusive things. One is apply for 485 and one is wait. I want to know one thing among other things.

    Is the ONLY benefit for applying 485 , for me, is to get EAD? I mean, if I don't apply for AOS now, I am assured that me and my spouse can file together when PD becomes current and they will approve ONLY if my PD is current. Isn't that right? That could be five years away, but, my spouse will be able to piggyback on my GC processing.

    Please remember that my fiancee is already on H1-B currently in India. I am from India too.

    I respectfully disagree, he is the president of USA and to its citizens, you might morally/personally declare him to be your president, but as long as your passport is not from USA you my friend are an alien (not extraterrestrial) living in the US of A :), please dont take this personally I am in the US too, and I got my passport recently renewed, and I had to pledge my allegiance in order to get my passport.     I'd say, we've waited enough(6-12 years). I know we are all chasing the american dream (perhaps it is just a dream), we should just make peace and move back. Thank you congress, america for giving ppl (from so called 3rd world nations) like us the chance to come and serve this great nation.

    I applied on June/25/2008 (Efilling) for me and spouse. My receipt date was on June/26/2008 for both EAD and AP. Still waiting for approval.

    Mine NSC. Don't know when it will be approved,

    Does anyone know, NSC working on EAD , AP and 485?
    Please share your info.

    All arguments are very sensible. No doubt about it. am working on an EAD and they did not incur any legal cost. However, I get frustrated thinking why they charge $180 per hour to the client.... even when the cost to company for me is about $110K per annum or around $60 per hour. I do not know whether I am worth $180 per hour or not....but probably more than $60/hr since they can charge $180 / hr

    We really need to analyze this deeply if we want to come up with a strategy....

    It is not how much they charge for you and how much they pay to you. They ( your compnay) are here for business not for charity.
    It is simple economics. Demand and supply.
    If you quit they will find zillions of people of same qualification waiting to take the same for $60
    Ideally , if you want to find out how much you should get/worth , put yourself in the market and do interview and try to negotiate and see what the range you are being offered . You may not take the offer but at least you will know where you stand.
    Be aware full time ( with all benefits) and W2 / C2C/ consulting rate are very diffrerent and another dimension is region for different rate.

    Eb2 have never moved beyond may 2004.. so until it goes past that.. these movements are not really worth anything.. it has to overcome that resistance.. then maybe 2005 will be a reality

    EB2-I did move to August 2006 only a few months ago, clearing some people way down in PD, but people senior in PD keep waiting.

    Its very interesting to read about people�s different perspective about same thing we are all after.. lets ask ourselves.. honestly why we do want GC and I am sure we all would have multiple reasons for this in our subconscious but would not like to bring it to forefront because it would only undermine our own ability to fight it or make life more stressful.. but end of the day we all want this card.. for me I want it mainly for security and peace of mind�lets look at the different situations.. these might be extreme but we all might have thought about these situations atleast at some point in the recent past� .. and especially the people in the seventh year

    1. You are in your seventh year� and you loose you job�.what is the first thought that comes to your mind.. I got to pack and leave .. pack your home of seven years and all your possessions you collected, in two suitcases of 50lbs each and leave�forget the Flat Screen TV,, forget all the electronics and the two cars you love ... just list them in craigslist �

    2. You have home which you bought with so much pride�what do you do? ..List it.. make a desperate sale in this falling market.. loose a ton of money and leave�and don't even talk about all the silk plants..floor lamps.. the furnishing,, they are for the yard sale on the Saturday..

    3. You have child whom you love and have plans for them.. love the school.. are an active member in the PTA � all of sudden what you do.. pull them out of school, move them from the only culture and the country they have known the only President they know is Bush and the only national anthem they have learnt is "The Star-Spangled Banner"�to another place where they don�t even understand the language forget the culture, national anthem etc..

    4. Think about your spouse.. they have adopted themselves to this lifestyle.. probably felt lonely when you moved here 7 years but now like it.. its time for them to move back�why because your don�t have a GC

    5. Forget the Golf and Tennis you enjoy so much here �it was all a very good dream..

    1. You are educated.. have a masters, have a professional degree.. but have been in the same position and department because of your long wait for GC, what happens� the fresh college graduate or the dumb blond who joined two years back and whom you taught how to log into the network is now your peer and you are still on the same desk doing the same job getting the 2% raise and working even more hard..so that you can keep you job..with a new dumb boss.. who thinks you are so dumb that you have been in the same job for so long time..
    2. All your batchmates are doing great..some of them are now sweating to be VP�s having risen by changing jobs �. You are still years away from that situation.. what do you do.. stop attending alumni meets and envy the mails in your yahoo groups from people..
    3. Seven years in US.. you have made your professional contacts.. and have a social network.. in which you invested your time and effort.. loose your job in the seventh year.. and all these contacts are nothing but an occasional international long distance call in future..

    Last but not the least� flight back home to your country is not going to be as smooth as the flight to US was seven years back.. back home look for a job..learn the whole new professional culture �and then set up a new home,,new school for kids�.why because we could not get a GC.. which was not in our control.. and because some stupid insane guy sitting in cave 10K miles away decided to terrorize the people in America in 2001.. and make life difficult for all the people..including people in H1...

    We might all go back to our home country one day.. but the ride back home would be much more pleasant and happier of a choice we made and not because we did not get a GC�

    For someone from India EB3, this warning is useless. Dates have not progressed for 6 months...

    April 2001 to October 2006.....lets see... the wait is 4.5 years. Even Mexico which send several magnnitudes more immigrants to the US has now moved to May 2001.

    It was lawsuit filed by AILA, efforts by IV and other groups that reversed the decision. Gandhigiri in this country has very little value. This country works on laws/court system. We need to get laws to help us and we need support groups like IV to make that happen. Or else we can pray to God to shower some green.

    This is my thought process (also referred by Ron G):


    July 2007 brought in approximately 500K 485 cases.

    We do not know how many cases were pending as of June 2007.

    Fiscal year 2007-2008 USCIS used over 140K EB VISA numbers (I think it was around 155K).
    Fiscal year 2008-2009 USCIS will use atleast 140K EB VISA numbers

    so, 500K - 300K = 200K.

    Assuming USICS approval rate is 85%; 75K of 500K are denied.

    200K - 75K = 125K EB cases pending from the July 2007 cases.

    Additions: from all current categories - may be 25 K in 2 years?

    So, 150 K plus whatever that was pending as of June 2007.

    So next fiscal year, 2009 if USCIS uses the quota 140 K, most or all of the 2007 filings will be cleared. If not EB3 I, definitely EB2 I and C, EB3 ROW will be cleared.

    Depending on new filings, EB3 I might retrogress but retrogression might come within 3-4 years instead of current 8 years.

    I strongly believe, beginning Jan 2010, dates for EB2 (I and C) will move forward heaps and bounds followed by EB3 ROW.

    Yes-excellent suggestion.India is a thriving democratic free sovereign nation.It is high time next Google,Yahoo and Oracle came from India.
    If we all recent US returned people form our own corporation back in India-I am sure next generation of innovation will come from there.(Why software?-thankfully, Indian govt has kept that sector free from its regulation)
    Reliance,Wipro and Infosys have made a big name.We need new self driven stories.

    From what I can gather, from the immigration perspective:

    1. If you are on H1 - You can technically start a business but since you cannot "work" towards it, in practice it's almost impossible

    2. If you are on H1 and have an EAD - You can start a business. But if you use your EAD, you are no longer on H1. (There are contradicting views on using EAD for PT while still maintaining H1. For now, this is a grey area)

    3. If you are on EAD -
    a. If you plan to work on your business on a part time basis and stay with your sponsored job full time, I don't see a problem with this.
    b. If you plan to work on your business full time, you might have an issue with a RFE at the I-485 stage as you would have used AC21 for self employment (Some people say this is okay, but it depends on your risk taking ability)

    The discussion is what we should do to act on these issues. IV core has been (I assume) assembling data for some time now to have valid numbers for some action items. Let's get on with the action items now and see where they take us. If that is deemed unsuccessful then we go for the next. We keep trying. That should be the motto. My 2 cents.

    The Pain you are taking in defending our fellow desi blood sucker companies.....it seems that you are yourself a Big "Dalla" sitting somewhere in new jersey.

    Please Stop living on Employees 'Hard Earned Money' .
    Treat Employees nicely and stop your Arrogance
    Tell your employees the actuall billing rate
    Stop Harassing them and Torturing them
    company Guest Houses are look like a Shit....they are not livable...
    Stop putting 10 people in one Guest House...
    start giving them standard Benefits( Health, Vision,Dental)

    I dont think so there is gonna be much impact of my Requests to these comapnies becaue all they care is how much maximum money then can make on employee in short time.......

    I am sorry that I wasted my time searching information for you. You just wanted to rant and are looking for a shoulder to cry. You are not serious about reporting your employer to DOL. It is foolish to expect idiots like you to come out of the gutter because you just enjoy the smell of the gutter. Expecting that your rants will have any affect on people who take advantage of immigrants is extremely foolish. And expecting folks like you to stand-up for yourself and do something about this is even more foolish.

    One more thing, only desi consulting companies are not the problem. Companies who figure out a way to take advantage of its employees, will do so. All companies are in the business of making bigger bucks for its shareholders. If they can figure out a way to make more, they will, even at the cost of taking advantage of immigrants. Desi companies figured out the loop holes first. Some of the other companies followed, others are still learning. It can be argued that % of such elements in desi consulting are more because they were the first to figure out the loopholes. But desi companies are not the only group taking advantage of immigrants. They are all the same. And folks like yourself feed into the problem. So please stop blaming just the desi consulting companies, because all companies are the same. Some companies have not yet figured out the ways to take advantage of immigrant employees. But these comapnies are learning fast, because they want to be competitive, right?

    The actual problem is, the Congress. Lawmakers are the problem. They know everything what is going on. They know that not just desi companies but even larger companies take advantage of the vulnerable part of the society - the immigrants. Inspite of having all the information, the lawmakers deliberately did not add necessary protections for immigrants. And, even if the system becomes more efficient, people who enjoy the gutter will continue to live in the gutter. No laws or protections can help folks like you. Every now and then, just come to forum like these and rant once in a while. That's what you will do. The fact is you do not need better treatment or benefits. You need better therapy to tell you that you can come out of the gutter.

    Please stop ranting and stop "requesting" desi companies on forum anonymously.
