I have taken an infopass tomorrow to get the I-551 stamp on my passport. Once that is done I will be mailing out the form I-90 for replacement.

Wait a minute, how was this India EB2 case even allowed to file I-485 when that PD has never been current? The lawyer alleges that it has been pending for several years.
Does this "fee bill" have nothing to do with 485 filing? Is it just plain wrong or am I missing something obvious here?
Perhaps he meant September 2006.
In CP process USCIS transfer I 140 / I 130 etc to NVC as soon as they get approved. but they sit there for years before NVC thinks date will be current soon and they send out fees invoice.
I am beneficiary of I 130 ( Family based petition ) and my I 130 at NVC for almost 2 years now. and when my date will come close to current ( in next 10 years ) they will send me fees.
Hope I become US citizen before that......:)

Please i suggest everyone to wake up and smell the coffee/chai.
If you think giving us citizenship will be easy becoz it will prop up their vote bank think again coz it will never happen. Imagine the headlines which says recession time 10M americans out of job, foreign workers to get citizenship LMAO!
Forget this ever happening in a recession time and not much of a chance in the boom time either, see how the Anti-Immi's will eat everyone up for this ridiculous suggestion, please remember we're nothing in the larger scheme of things for the decision making people, we need to understand our limitation and strengths and play by them, IV does a decent job of that.
Do think rationally before coming up with ridiculous ideas like giving senators free pizza or asking for-direct citizenship. lol.

I already took Vonage world phone. I am happy with it. However, I happened to see somewhere in the thread about Lingo offering india calling even through the mobile. That had me give a second thought on switching over to Lingo.
However, when I read the fine print on the lingo site, it mentions you cannot call Mobile phones in India. This catch makes me go crazy. Can some one confirm how are they handling with this constraint. Is that still a good option to switch over vonage to lingo based on this single feature?

There are several threads on the subject of multiple 485 filing. These days everyone is starting a new thread, with their question without looking at existing threads and sometimes people do not even put a title that is easy to know.
if a member who is in need of an answer to this question, can volunteer to search the forum and find the relavant posts on this topic and put their link/ copy paste on this thread, it will help everyone.
There are several members with multiple I140 approved and both husband and wife wish to apply for their I485 to be safe.

Hi All,
I received the CPO email yesterday.My case details are PD : Dec 2004, 485 RD : Aug 6th 2007(I140 Filed concurrently),EB2 India.140 was approved on Tuesday.
I140 was pending from 2007.When my attorney followed up in feb this year,USCIS gave the standard reply of waiting for 6months.After that they said,they will update in 10 days.They didn't update even after that and then i moved it to premium processing on Sept 28th.
Took 2 info passes in Septembter(regd i140 mainly).First one was not of much help though the officer told my 485 is assigned to IO on Sept 8th.Second time it was different officer and she was very helpful.Tried looking why my 140 is getting delayed but she said ,if she opens my file then 485 file will go back to review queue as it is currently being reviewed by Sept 18th.So she didn't recommend doing that.I didn't open any SR after my first experience of 6 months waiting(without an result!!!)

I just received my 2 year EAD. Priority date is Nov 2002 - EB3 -India. Well I guess that says it all. If USCIS thinks that Nov 2002 will take at least another 2 years then I dunno what about the rest. I didn't wanna think about EB2 porting being so close and spend another 10k, I guess just need to stop worrying about it now. :)

No, the idea is; if you cry for gold you will atleast get silver. When the point is raised that people have been living here legally, paying taxes, SS, owning houses etc etc for 10 years!! what more is actually needed for citizenship?? The idea is to highlight that legal residents (many of them) have been here for ever!! 10 years is almost 15% of an average life span!! If only this thing is highlighted in some strong news papers. Isn't this protectionism at its worst. US is complaining about labor laws in China???? What the heck is this here??? You pay taxes and SS and medicare etc for 10 years and then you are asked to leave??????????? Isn't this slavery??? Either take of the requirement that workers on visas have to pay the required SS / medicare etc or assume responsibility for having taken their hard earned money and let them in as soon as possible into the society.

I also had my visa interview on 27-DEC-2007 @Mumbai (h1-b/h-4 renewal) and was told that I will receive an email in 2 business days, subsequent to which I will have to go to VSF office for getting my visa stamped.
Its been 6 business days and am yet to receive an email..I contacted VSF in Mumbai and they told me that all the H1-B applicants are in the same boat and they could not predict any time line...Planning to call the US-consulate tomorrow to see if they can provide some timeline..I already have rescheduled my return flight to US...If things continue this bad, am planning to use my AP to travel back to the US.

Hard to tell. FBI nor USCIS has ever published demographic information on name checks. Out of 1 million USC and and 1 million or so green cards some of them get stuck in name check. Indians and Chinese don't make up more than 10% of these people yet, most of the name check complaints on the web are from these two groups. It is hard to say if this means these are the most affected groups because many family category immigrants may not be very educated and articulate and may not be petitioning the government and being proactive. So it is very hard to say if one or the other group is more or less affected. You can however look up the below link and form an opinion yourself from the 4000 odd signatures of people stuck in name check:

There is no basis for Oct PD to be at or near Jun 2007 PD levels, it is only to lull us into inaction. And I would be more than happy to be wrong about this :o

I think we should not mention the bellow point in the letter which we are going send to the president.
Implement the existing interim rule to allow issuance of multi-year Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) and Advance Parole.
According to Mr. Aytes, USCIS is already working on it. Why to mention it in the letter?
That will rather give anti-skill-immigration crying babies one more thing to cry about.
Now what? Under the new filing fee schedule which took effect after July 29, 2007, issuance of EAD and Advance Parole for the post August 27, 2007 is "free, free, free" for the I-485 filers. Allegedly, the cost is incorporated in the I-485 filing fee of $1,020. The new regulation uses the term of "fee waiver" for EAD and Advance Parole for these I-485 filers. Now, you guessed it! Lo and Behold, the business calculation on EAD and Advance Parole has reversed. The DHS will lose a huge money by issuing single-year EAD and a separate Advance Prole document on a yearly basis over and over since they are free and they will have to keep producing it at no charge every year, which creates a huge workloads consuming its huge human resources and other production costs. This is particularly unacceptable to the agency under the predicted State Department Visa Bulletin for FY 2008 and in the future. Now, from the business standpoint, the DHS may make a huge money by issuing a multi-year EAD which will also function as a travel document. Ahah! No wonder why they are finally coming forward revealing their hidden agenda behind the new fee rule-making and EAD/Advance Parole reform business.
