Albeit silly.... I was thinking, Ok... at least now folks here will realize that not in IT but Indians are talented/can shine is many fields and that's the way it is. The reality being there are more talented people in that country who never got chance global recognition (until the ice was broken by the IT industry)... My EAD receive date is 27th July and notice date is 31st Aug. I made two infopass appointments till now but got different excuses both the times for EAD not being approved. During my first appointment, local office told me that since USCIS is counting 90 days from the notice date, i should come after Nov. 30th. I went there again on Dec 3rd. That day local office told me that NSC is currently processing july 3rd cases and you do not fall outside processing period window. So you need to wait.
I called USCIS customer service center several times. But everytime i get some different reason for not opening up a SR. I guess now i will wait until NSC start processing july 27th EAD cases. I am sure once that will happen, USCIS officers will give me some other excuse rather than looking into the case.

Yes I am looking at the thread. I am expecting a very good forward movement(At least to 2007 Dec) in EB2 India category in the coming months.
If you see the Visa bulletin Archive for the last three years during April - Jul range theres a sharp jump in Priority dates(more than a year and more) for EB2 category. This happened during vertical fall out (This doesnt include last year because last year its horizontal fall out). So this year I am expecting the cut off dates will move at least two years ahead for EB2 India because of the horizontal fall out. For Eb3 I am not expecting any big change unless theres some immigration reform in the new OBAMA government.
Here comes VdlRao at his best in predicting the future movement of PD's, May your words become true and give respite to all EB2/EB3 folks.

I agree with you 100%. I think Anti-Immigrants like NumbersUSA and Tom Tancredo is better than USINPAC. For Anti-immigrants atleast we know where they stand and we know what to expect from them. usinpac is the worst kind of disease for the community where they can trick you anytime and you will not even know when they are stabbing you at your back. They just want to do photo-ops and claim the credit for the things they didn't even know. I live in VA and most people in Indian community in northern VA know about the inside story of these scamster. Initially a few lawmakers got the impression that usinpac represent the Indian American community, maybe that is what the con-artist at this org conveyed to a few lawmakers. Now everybody in DC area, including the lawmakers, know the truth about this group. A journalist friend in MD told me that even press and reporters know about this totally useless org called usinpac.
It is one thing if they do something and then claim credit for doing it. The problem is first of all they claim to represent entire Indian American community; on top of that they do not do anything about the any issue including green card issue. But when they see something happening they will try to take ownership of anything moving and will try to make a show that things are moving because of them. Just as in this case, all the members of IV sent flowers and these guys are releasing press release to tell to the world that they are the once doing this drive. Such press release from them is extremely damaging as the basic intent of the ENTIRE flower campaign was o draw media attention. In this case usinpac did not spare all the people spending days and nights to coordinate, Nixtor and English_august and thousands of people who sent flowers. How can someone stoop so low? Now they want to get media attention and that is why they have sneaked in this press release. IV core must come clean on this and clearly renounce these consistent immature acts of these con-artists. I have many times pondered on the strength/power of dollar value and I feel apart from factors like globalization/petro dollars most important factor is America's politics.
No matter who is in the White House, no matter what their domestic politics are, no matter what their agreement(s)/disagreement(s) are they follow a well established strategic template on the International arena always keeping their focus on fortifying their super power status/dollar strength.
Very fact that dollar value is not as low as it should be amidst the current crisis shows the value that dollar is enjoying(when compared to the value of the currencies of other economies that didn't actually collapse as did American economy) may not be the real value but a strategised value.

Bernanke's predecessor Alan Greenspan has written a book (check it on Amazon) where he makes a case for increased high-skilled immigration. He makes a forceful case that its good for the greater economy (and not just limited to housing sector). And yet, we don't see any action on the Capitol (do we?!).
If Bernanke gives a media statement about the benefits of increased high-skilled immigration to media, it will create a few articles, a few heated discussions. It will peter out after that ( like Bill Gates testimonies to US Congress). Ultimately its the guys sitting in the Capitol and WH who control what becomes the law. And they aren't going to decide on immigration based on what Bernanke states in a brainstorming session.
Here's the complex process - Someone has to write a bill, work on getting sponsors and co-sponsors, network with other Congressmen to support the bill. Get it through the bureacracy of the Sub-committee on Immigration in the Senate, get a filibuster proof majority of 60 senators to get it passed. Same has to be done in the House. Get it out of House immigration sub-committee. Get a majority vote in the House. In doing all this they shouldn't create a reason for Pres. Bush to veto it. In case he does veto it (for any reason) it will go back to Congress and 2/3rd majority is required to override the veto.
If it was so easy to get a bill passed [by getting Mr. Bernanke to support it] lobbying business would've been long dead. Companies wouldn't be spending millions of dollars every year to safeguard their interests.
Point is - getting Bernanke/media support may create a traction for our issue and get it some coverage. I'm not saying the effort is completely useless. It has it's place. But it will not fix the issue by itself. We still need to meet the lawmakers and convince them, we still need to send those letters, make those phone calls, send those faxes and so on. Getting Bernanke/media support will never be an alternative to IV efforts. They will, at best, complement it.

If I were planning to use my EAD now or in the near future I would just cough up $380 and apply for a fresh EAD instead of chasing USCIS.
If it works, then it is money well spent compared to running back and forth to USCIS offices, calling them daily and all the painful aggravation involved.
I will gladly spend 380 instead of risking the possiblity of picking up Diabetes or Blood pressure due to stress.
Is it possible to do so ? Can we apply for 2nd EAD application even without first one, and having got the receipt notice for first one ? If yes then this is a good solution, but then who knows how long the 2nd one will take to be approved, making it a worthless effort.

Guys - I have 2 sets of questions:
1. Case 1: Re-enter on AP with a valid H1-B visa till Oct 2010 (not stamped in Passport though). What status do I have (AOS or H1-B)? This is assuming that I work for the same GC sponsoring employer. I currently have 3 copies of AP (and 3 for my wife) - will I have to turn in all 3 of them at the POE? I have read that the Immigration Officers keep 2 of the 3 APs and return one back to you. The I-94 is stamped for 1 year - what do I do after a year? Do I have to renew my AP every year to maintain my status in the US?
2. Case II: Re-enter on AP (not working for sponsoring employer - using AC 21) - Is this safe? How does one explain AC21 to the Immigration Officer..how should one answer the question: 'Who is your current employer?'
